Pope/Douglas is currently constructing a new Environmental Center.
Underground and site work started in 2022. Projected occupancy of the new facility will occur late 2024.
This facility will serve the growing recycling and problem material management needs of Pope and Douglas counties.
To help make this happen, Pope/Douglas secured bonding funds through the 2020 and 2023 MN Legislative Sessions.

- This part of the campus expansion consists of a joined Environmental Center & Operations Building.
- Dedicated learning space to host school tours, community gatherings, environmental & safety trainings.
- Accommodation for Joint Solid Waste Board functions.
- Administrative and support office space.
Reuse Center
Bigger and Better!
Reuse Center will still feature items that are recovered from the Household Hazardous Waste drop-offs.
New items may include, bikes, mowers, furniture, decorations, books, pots/pans, dishes.
Keeping perfectly good items out of the garbage.
