Mobile Recycling Trailer
The trailer operates from May-September. See dates below.
Pope/Douglas operates a mobile recycling trailer, on a seasonal basis, in the communities of Starbuck and Glenwood.
There is a recycling attendant on-site to assist you with waste and recycling questions!

Recycling Trailer Schedule
The Pope/Douglas recycling trailer runs from May through September.
Every Tuesday in Glenwood (April 30 – Sept 24) at Tom’s Market
Every Thursday in Starbuck (May 2 – Sept 26) at Tom’s Market
Trailer is on-site from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Organics Recycling Options in Pope County
Pope County Organics Drop Sites
- Take your properly bagged organics to a drop site near you.
- Only compostable BPI-certified liners or paper bags are accepted.
- NO plastic bags.
- Alexandria (Central) – Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Recycling Center
- Open Monday-Friday 8-5 and Saturday 9-2. Closed major holidays.
- Located right next to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility in fenced area.

There is also a Mobile Household Hazardous Waste trailer set up in Glenwood to offer more access.
Drop off location at the Pope County (County Highway Building)
Saturdays on April 13th, June 8th, August 10th (9 am-12 pm)
Wednesdays on May 8th, July 10th, September 11th (4 pm – 7 pm)

Hazardous Waste Drop Off Options @ Ace Hardware - Glenwood
Pope/Douglas Solid Waste has partnered with Ace Hardware (Glenwood) to offer more access to properly disposing of select hazardous waste items.
Items include: paints/stains, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent bulbs. Other items not accepted – must be brought to the Pope/Douglas Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Alexandria or household hazardous waste mobile trailer events.
Drop off location at Ace Hardware in Glenwood.
Drop off is available when store location is open.
