MRF Night Shift Lead

MRF Night Shift Lead works in the (MRF) Material Recovery Facility

Night Shift – 11:00 p.m. – 8:30 a.m. Sunday night – Friday morning Additional Overtime as Needed

Organizational Relationships

  • Under the general direction of the MRF Manager and Executive Director.
  • This position oversees the operations and personnel in absence of MRF Manager.
  • Responsible for implementing the directives of the MRF Manager.
  • Assists, and participates in, the operation and repair of the equipment and facility.

Examples of Work

  • Supervises the operation and personnel on shift
  • Responsible for monitoring personnel and personnel issues
  • Assists MRF Manager with review, touring, and hiring of employees
  • Responsible for the on the job training of subordinate operators on the shift
  • Reviews and updates training log for subordinate employees
  • Responsible for personnel safety and accident reporting on the shift
  • Responsible for weekly timesheet review of subordinates
  • Responsible for maintaining plant cleanliness on the shift
  • Works with Office Manager on coordination of random testing and is the point of contact for reasonable suspicion testing for those occurrences.
  • Assists trucks with scaling and directs deliveries in absence of scale operator
  • Directs personnel on duty, reviews operational logs, and uses industrial related experience on operating to anticipate and correct operational problems.
  • Produces documentation and detail of unacceptable waste loads
  • Produces records and information used to generate reports on daily, weekly, and monthly operations
  • Monitors all parts of the system to avoid blockages and plugs
  • Monitors MRF system for potential issues and communicates those issues with the MRF Maintenance Technician
  • Enters work orders into CMMS system
  • Assists employees engaged in operating and servicing of MRF building and equipment
  • Operates baler, forklift, and front-end loaders
  • Operates front-end loaders and forklifts to move product to storage areas and load product onto trucks
  • Responsible for container emptying in the recycling center along with recycling trailer
  • Works on sorting line for relief of Sort Line Attendants
  • Responsible for snow removal of the facility
  • Delegates the work on the shift
  • Performs other related works as required

Education, Experience & Abilities Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous heavy equipment operation
  • A minimum of one (1) year of industrial related experience.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role

Salary Range

$20.20 – $24.815 per hour - Non-Exempt Position Night shift receives an additional $1.25 shift differential
